Hairy Crab is a direct translation of the Chinese name Mao Xie given most likely due to the fine downy hair that covers its leaves. The tea is entirely handmade in the Anxi District of the Fujian Province from its own tea plant varietal. It is produced in a manner similar to the Ti Kuan Yins, but has a less flowery aroma and taste; instead, it is distinctly reminiscent of ripe peach. A very delicate, refreshing Oolong.
